solar guide

A little knowledge. A lot of possibility.

A practical guide to rooftop solar: how it works, what to check and how to prepare for a consultation.

THE SHORT ANSWER

From sunlight to everyday electricity.

Solar panels convert daylight into direct-current electricity. An inverter converts it into alternating current for the building. Depending on the system and local permissions, excess electricity may charge a battery or flow to the grid.

Start with these four questions

  1. How much electricity do you use, and when?
  2. Is the roof structurally suitable and mostly unshaded?
  3. Do you need lower daytime grid use, backup, or both?
  4. What approvals does your electricity distributor require?

For current programmes, consult PM Surya Ghar, MNRE and your local electricity distributor. Final subsidy eligibility is verified during site assessment.

A LITTLE ROOFTOP MATH

What could fit your energy needs?

Estimated system size4.2 kW

Based on monthly bill ÷ tariff ÷ 30 days ÷ 4 kWh/kW/day average generation. Final system capacity is tailored after a physical rooftop and shading assessment.
